I had some time today after a friend's birthday brunch so I figured I could spend a few hours testing some new colored power eggs over at Lake Tye.

I arrived at around 2pm and fished for the better part of the late afternoon, landing two within the first hour. After that, the action slowed down considerably, and nobody else seemed to be catching. The first fish was caught on my second cast and was a small rainbow with fairly dark coloring, it was maybe 10", caught using a Carolina style rig with a 16" leader baited with two orange sparkle power eggs. The second fish was much bigger and more silver in color, that was caught on the second rod with a trusty old silver Dick Nite spoon rigged with a few split-shots.

After landing the first two fish within an hour I thought I was going to be having a very productive day, however the bite quickly slowed down, I missed about two small bumps on the sparkle orange power eggs and after nothing for 2 hours I called it a night.

If you haven't been to the store lately, I was fortunate enough to pick up some power bait at Dick's, they're got this huge rebate going on when you buy multiple and it's a really good deal.

These two trout are going into brine tonight and then on the smoker tomorrow!

tight lines!

The top f ish is a steelhead plant and the other fish is a regular stocker trout.

Thanks for the ID riverhunter! I was wondering what that top one was. Its flesh is a little darker with more color too. They both taste good though.
