Spent the morning both trolling and still fishing on Lawrence with only a couple of drive by hits while trolling. Threw the usual Wedding Band spinners tipped with crawler, Dick Nite spoons, and another spinner that has put fish in the box on previous outings.
After trolling we still fished a bit with Power Bait and then worms.
Nothing.
Four rods out - zero fish, and the lake was just planted a week and a half ago with 20,000 2.5 / lb trout. The month prior 500 .22 / lb trout were stocked.
I attribute the poor fishing to the fact the the lake is already in bloom - which generally happens by the latter part of June. There is a bit of the green slime piling up along the shallows, and the deeper parts are cloudy with the blossom.
Marked plenty of fish, and water temp averaged just over 56 degrees.
We absolutely love this lake for spring trout fishing, but will likely be done here for the season due to the algal issues.
