I only had to go to work for a half-day, so that meant I could spend a few mid-day hours out at Beaver Lake Park. The sun was out and it was a very pleasant afternoon with a light breeze.
There were a few guys out in boats and one guy in a kayak, it was so quiet you could hear their conversations even from shore! The trollers didn't seem to have any fish. The rest of the guys on shore seemed to be bottom fishing - with no luck.
Casting from the point end at the park, I worked a metallic blue and green Blue Fox spinner for about half an hour with nary a bite. For the next half hour I switched it up to a 1/2 oz. P-Line laser minnow in bright orange, and still nothing. I would have switched it up to still-fishing some powerbait, but as luck would have it, I had put the jar in a different tackle box. Note to self: buy more jars of powerbait.
It was nice at least to get some of the gear wet this year!
