We were fortunate enough to have folks come out and fish with Jeff on Friday, Saturday and Monday. The Kokanee continue to be a hot & cold proposition. You need to find schools and run an attractive presentation right at, or just above the level that you see them on the sonar. For us, that is a Mack's Lures Double D Dodger in 0000 chrome trailed by a Mack's Kokanee Pro Wedding Ring baited with scented corn. Troll this combo at about 1 mph, but don't be afraid to vary the speed widely. Hitting the same fish more than 3 or 4 times without getting them to bite, means you need to go find a school with biters in it...
Cutthroat are also showing up as a bonus. The same combo that gets you the Kokanee will trigger the Cutts. Go shallower and hug the South Shore for best results.
Mackinaw fishing continues red hot, with bite rates at and in excess of 4 per hour. Jeff drifts and Silver Horde Needlefish Squiddy's with a big Mack's Glo Burs Smile blade in front baited with a chunk of Pikeminnow, trolled at 1.2 mph within 5 feet of the bottom in the Barrens has worked best.
This has been a great run lately.
(Ironically, that big rainbow in the pic from the 28th was caught at the dock!)
