I've been dying to get out fishing, but weather was crappy for weeks, so with some sun for a few days I decided to head out and went to Rotary lake, since it's nearby and I had no idea if fish would be biting or not. I was there for maybe two hours and didn't see anyone catch anything. I had two poles out, one with powerbait under a bobber and one with a jig under a bobber. I was fishing from the first platform when suddenly my bobber started to move and then went under and it was fish on! It felt like a had a piece of wood at first but then I saw a flash under the water and continued to reel and ended up with a big bass! My estimate is 2-3 pounds and a beautiful specimen. That was my only bite of the day but it was good enough.
I had my thermometer in very shallow water for 5-10 minutes and it said 51 or so degrees. I don't know if that's accurate because it wasn't in very long, but the water is definitely warming up here, even though we've had cold nights.
There were probably 10 to 20 people fishing around the lake and I didn't see anyone else catch anything so I wouldn't rush out here. It's probably overfished because I see people fishing here most of the year.
