The Kokanee are in. Jeff & Pepe' got on a nice kokanee bite and simultaneously fended off cabin fever. The weather was not for the faint of heart, but a nice collection of those Lake Chelan Kokanee, a cutt and Pepe's good cooking made it worthwhile. Watching the sonar and keeping their presentation working right above the schools is the key piece of the presentation puzzle. Fishing around Colyar Ledge with forays as far uplake as Mitchell Creek or 25 Mile Creek can be necessary this time of the year making a boat with a heater and overhead cover almost a necessity to keep people reasonably comfortable. Mack's Lures 0000 Double D Dodgers with a 16" leader and a mini cha cha baited with Pautzke's Fire Corn completes the ensemble. Usually trolling speeds of around 1 mph are best, but don't be afraid to slow down to .5 or be afraid to goose it up to over 2mph. Once these fronts push through and the weather stabilizes, it should be great winter fishing for nice Kokanee on Lake Chelan.
