Got out on Cda again yesterday with the Packernut. The thermometer in my truck said it was 16 degrees at the boat launch. The weather reports I had been seeing were predicting 38. Man were they wrong. I don't think it ever got over 21 or 22. We started the day missing 3 fish pretty much right away. One of those was a decent fish that got off with a $20 lure, thanks the the poorly tied knot that I had just retied the night before. We moved on to another spot and started getting bites right away. We ended up getting 20 pike between the two of us. 19 of them came on glide baits and one on the frog. The water level is dropping lower all the time and the fish were in and arorund the usual weedbeds but now those weeds are in 4 to 5 feet of water. Water temps were 38 to 41 throughout the day. No big fish on this trip. Largest was this 30"er. Seems like the lower temps have the big girls moved off into deeper water somewhere. Hopefully things will warm up a little for next weekend. I'm not ready to be done pike fishing yet for the year but I'm in no hurry to fish in the teens again any time soon.
