Cutthroat Trout

Fished for 2 hours off my kayak by the South Point of Mercer Island. I was using leaded line, a flasher and a green wiggle-hootchie tipped with a piece of herring fillet. I caught this beautiful 16 inch cut throat right at the buoy on the south west Point of Mercer Island. She was full of eggs. Does anybody have a good recipe for making trout caviar? Also, two guys in an aluminum boat showed me the fattest trout I have ever seen come out of the big lake. It must have been 6 pounds. Love to hear from those guys and see a picture.

I was out there too and seen that fat pig! Didnt see you thou. All I got out of there was perch while trolling. They were by catch that was still great to eat. When the dodger stopped wiggling you know you grabbed another. LOL
Do you know how fast you were going? I tryed from 1.3 all the way up to 2 mph and nothing hit

Mix 5 T kosher salt in 4 c 100°F water until it is dissolved. Split the water equally into 2 bowls. Soak the whole skeins in one bowl for 20 min. Run the water in the sink as hot as you can stand it. Put a a fine strainerin the sink to catch the eggs. Quickly run the skeins through the hot water and work the eggs out with your fingers making sure to catch the eggs in the strainer. The hot water will cause the membrane holding the eggs to release them. Be careful not to let the eggs sit in the hot water or they will cook. Once all of the eggs are out of the skien rinse them in cold water. Soak the eggs in the reserved salt water for 2 minutes. Strain the eggs and cool them. They will last for a week or more in the fridge.
Any questions just PM me.
Enjoy!

Thanks fishermann20! I'll give it a shot. Maybe we will have a fancy Thanksgiving appetizer.

I saw you out there catching the trout. Last year i was catching trout out deeper and at 55 ft. Things are different this year becuase of weather i guess. How deep do you figure you were fishing? Also fish seem to move around a lot. I've had success when Iv'e run up to I 90. I long way for you. Also have done well closer to mouth of Cedar river, but the day I saw you it was blowing out mud. Still trtying to figure out how to get on a school of perch and catch buckets full. Where did you see those schools you mentioned? Good Luck Once my shoulder heals from surgery I might see you in my kayak.
