Finally got back out on the water. Very slow today. Only one 6" crappie, one 12" rainbow and one 3.35 Smallie. All on the dropshot. But I did see a HUGE!!!!! ball of perch or crappie, biggest I've ever seen on this lake. Some nibbles but no hookups. They were moving along fairly fast too. Some sun, some clouds, some breeze.

Intrigued about the perch school. Been planning (read: trying to convince someone to come with) to go to lk washington to target perch, Might have to try sawyer for perch again. Haven't had any luck targeting them there lately.

What depth(s) did you see them? Earlier in the year I crossed paths with a giant fast moving perch school in 25 feet of water, but lost em immediately.

Seems to have been mostly in 28 foot of water. I'd say up to about 15 foot depth. The tightest ball showed red in the middle, and the ball behind that one was bigger as it was longer, not as dense tho. And then there were lots of fish in waves all the way up to about 5 foot depth.

Thanks for the detailed info. Mind if I ask what you were throwing at them when you got some nibbles? Ive noticed that the perch in sawyer seem to have a different preference for gear/ bait than the perch in other lakes. Seem to be a little more picky here. (they dont seem to hit perch meat like they did in curlew or washington). I have caught 14in perch here with drop shot and nightcrawler, just few and far between.

Dropshot with a pumpkin/green Sniper Snub. One worm I threw on my other dropshot rod was about 6" long and they took one nibble at that.
