Water temps were 49* and the level had come up a little as the water had some cloud to it. Wish there was a photo to share but it ended up being a dinkfest. Except for the 16" cutthroat that nailed my Rapala while I was reeling in! Beautiful colored fish, I didn't have a net so I plier released it at the boat.

I wonder if all the big fish head out deep to follow the crappie, perch, trout, whatever fish around. If small ones are biting, the big ones must be also. It was hard to leave the smaller fish on Saturday to go fan cast swim baits in the middle of the lake. Tax season in getting side imaging, then I will be able to see if they are out in the middle or not. What do you think?

I've always felt like the bass that are "food" sized aren't hanging around the bass that could eat them, however I have also fished the same spot and the bass have gotten progressively bigger! I do feel that perch schools are key for larger bass in the colder months. This week I have honestly just been out messing around and visiting lakes I haven't seen in months. Your idea with the swimbait is a good one, especially if there is good cover on the bottom or a school? Try it with a 1-1.5oz jighead and slow roll it along the bottom if the lake allows!
