The Walleye fishing is very good on Potholes right now! The perch are extra big and fat as an added bonus. My buddy Dave Getzin and myself headed out before the weekend storm to get in a morning of walleye action before the wind came up in the early afternoon. I use to tournament fish Potholes about 15 years ago and proceeded to find the fish right where I left off. The gear has changed a bit over the years and most of the fishermen are using a Slow Death hook. I enhance my hooks with a small MoneyMaker Shaker Wing to attract more fish. You can find the entire rig and story in next months issue of Northwest Sportsmans Magazine with rig layouts and how the worm is correctly attached to the Slow Death hook.
I will be guiding for walleye on Potholes Reservoir until the fish cleaning station gets turned off at the State Park. I will fillet all your fish and teach you many warm water fishing techniques to improve your catch. I think that we will have at least another month of trolling action on Potholes Reservoir. The wind is always an issue and I will not fish if it is over 12mph on any given day. Potholes is not a nice Lake to get caught in a wind storm. Pick a nice day and give me a call to go out for a Walleye adventure on Potholes Reservoir.
I like to fish Potholes Reservoir and use the State Park boat ramp. The cleaning station is second to none. The guides make this Lake seem easy to go out and limit on any given day. This Lake is easy if you know how to walleye fish. I recommend that you get a lesson from a qualified guide that can upgrade your experience out on the water. We have a couple connected with this site that have reported winning results out on the water. I will be guiding for walleye in the spring as well!!
