WIND was the word for yesterday for sure. Weather.com predicted the wind would start at 10am and get up to 18 mph, and it was spot on. We decided to fish the chains with strong winds predicted and that turned out to be a decent plan. Got on the water at about 8:30am and at 10 the wind showed up. We got 5 pike and missed 3 or 4 others in an hour and a half before the wind started. Half hour or so later picked up one more. Tried another couple of chain lakes without seeing a single fish so we decided tom brave the main lake in the wind. NOTHING, Not a bump, a bite or even a tickle. We headed back toward the boat launch and stopped in one more chain lake hoping to find some more pike. Nothing there either, unless you like to catch bass. Only got one fish but it was a beauty. A new personal best for me, but only topped my best by a hair. My scale has a habit of jumping the numbers around while a fish is on it. I saw 6lb 12oz show up twice, so that's what I'm calling it. (LOL) She was certainly a nice fish. I can only imagine what she would weigh in the spring with a full load of eggs. She was 21" long.
All fish caught hit bright colored spinner baits, in chartruese and orange, or chartruese and blue. Water temps went from 56 to 61 degrees throughout the day.
Bass tourney going on today out of Harrison. I'll bet those guys would have liked to catch that toad in the photo. Might have been a money maker for them. She likely has a sore mouth today and won't eat for them. :(
