Watched a lot of guys trolling at the potholes today. I kept seeing nice schools on the sonar along medicare beach, but couldn't get any to bite trolling. Decided to switch to jigging raps, Vertically jgging at 20 to 30 feet. Man oh man, the bite was on! I released this big fish (at 24"), but we kept 2 limits of 14-18 inchers.

Nice work! Is it me, or do the fish over 20" or so get soft and not as good to eat? I have caught several fish well over that size and even during cold weather months and they are not that good. I cook them all the same way and the smaller fish are incredible! Big ones....not so good. Kind of mushy. So I have elected to just take some quick picks and let them go after that. BUT! When I get one that is worthy of stuffing, I will. Any you folks do what you want, I am not telling anyone anything! I'm just curious if anyone else has noticed the same thing, Also, I fry all of my walleye, perch and crappie. That is a great walleye! did you get it on light gear?
