Sorry for the delay in posting this report, really been busy with our veg. garden. This report covers Monday and a previous trip last week. On that trip we caught 13 fish with two dollies being over 3 lbs. each. We limited out on Dollies, 4 each is the limit. On that day we saw two other boats on the whole lake.
We launched at about 7:30 a.m. on Monday .Trolling at about 35 ft. and 45 ft. with spoons, we caught 17 fish, two fish over 1 persons limit. 4 dollies and 13 cuts. Large dollies were absent on this trip, my guess is that they are in rivers and creeks feeding on spawning salmon and steelhead eggs, also getting ready for their own spawning cycle. Cuts have been great, really nice size in these fish this year. A beautiful day to be on the water, not a single boat on the whole lake, felt like this lake is our private reserve! Calm day with little wind. ALL fish had firm red meat, I guess if you drag your fish around all day in 60 to 70 degree water they will turn to mush as will all mistreated fish. We saw another fisherman on the Chehalis River yesterday, he was still dragging the same fish he caught in the morning around on a stringer at 2:00 P.M. And people have said that salmon from the Chehalis taste like cardboard. Well. duh! If you leave your fish in the water rather then bleeding it and putting it on ice or with frozen water bottles It will taste like trash fish.
Notice the salmon fry sticking out of this cutthroats' mouth, 2 or 3 fish coming out and he is STILL striking spoons! Tight lines to all, Bob and Melanie
