I cleaned up the Adorah Jane and bought some nightcrawlers and some ice and my bro James and I made our way down to Newport and after both of us checked one more time that the plug was in we lowered AJ into Lake Washington and headed south!

The lake had light wave action and soon we found ourselves cutting the motor and anchoring up in front of Seahawks headquarters. There was a crowd at their practice bussed in locally and put into stands erected around their practice facility. A carnival atmosphere seemed to emanate from the grounds and the rhythmic beat of Bruno Mars came clearly to us across the water.

It was my 63rd birthday and the first time on the lake this year for me and the often complimented Adorah Jane! It was not a disappointment! First we drove slowly into the perimeter of the bay in front of the complex and I noted a dropoff on the fishfinder from 25 to 35 feet and fish showing on the incline. We moved into 25 feet of water, anchored and began to cast a 1/2 nightcrawler back toward the slope and we picked up bass after bass with each cast getting bites whether we just drew up slack after casting and waited or slowly bounced it back toward us!

The first couple bass we caught were 7 to 10 inches and they were great little fighters, bending the rod enough to make you think they were bigger fish, but it was not long before we also caught a couple good sized slabs that bent our Shimanos double!

We caught a lot of fish and we also sat through a great thunder and lightning show that forced the Hawks to clear the stands and call in the busses! My thanks to my brother who is a good man and one of the few people that get my humor! Tight lines and go Seahawks!
