Fished Banks with the Packernut yesterday in the steamboat rock area. The fishing was again on fire with lots of action. We managed 57 walleyes between the two of us. We released a ton of small fish and kept just short of 2 limits. We finished the day with around 8 fish over 16 and the biggest of the day was only 17 1/2". Mike tied in to a big one only to see his knot give way right at the boat before we could even see how big the fish was. We fished the Macks smile blade rigs behind bottom bouncers. Chartruese was the best color for us. Caught fish in 10-40 feet of water but most fish came from 16-17 feet.
Many thanks to the guys in the Crestliner that bailed us out at the end of the day. I have a 2 bank charger in my boat that takes care of the trolling motor and excessories. I have neglected to put my other charger on my starting motor battery for most of the year. We fished for about 12 hours until the trolling motor batteries were completely dead. Somehow the starting motor battery died on us. I'll blame it on the grandkids getting in the boat and flipping switches. The wind had picked up to about 20mph, maybe more. When we decided it was time to go home, we found the dead starting motor battery and had no trolling motor battery to switch to. FORTUNATELY the 2 kind gentlemen in the Crestliner heard me wistling and or saw me waving my arms , and came to our rescue. They loaned me their battery long enough to get my motor running, then we switched back and were able to make it back to the launch. I myself have towed 2 people back to the launch so far this year. I just can't drive by someone stranded on the water. I guess the good deeds found their way back to me. THANK YOU!!
New boat rules at my house: Put charger on starting motor battery, and handcuff grandkids IF I allow them to get in the boat in the garage again.

Great report. I need to get out to banks and learn where to fish it. I can't tell you how many times I wish I'd got a three bank charger.

That has always worried me so we care a spare battery, it's been in the boat for three years and never hooked up. Next spring I will trade it in on a new spare. Great report, we fished Banks last week with similar results. We also found a perch spot on the opposite side of the lake as Steamboat Rock.

OH ya, I forgot to mention the perch. We also caught 10 real nice perch. They were the jumbo types, around 10" and real fat. They even put up a decent fight for having to pull around a 2oz bottom walker. :)
