Hit the lake just before 6a today. Spent about 4 peaceful hours fishing. Then the weekend crowd showed up. Took a while to get the boat off the lake with everybody dropping in.

First fish was a nice rainbow just before 6:30a, released. Shortly after that the first Kokanee of the day. Played with gear for a while and putted around the East side of the lake. Caught the biggest Kokanee of the day on the way to the East side. Then landed my last Kokanee around 9:45a. Caught two more Rainbows between the Kokes and hooked a couple Kokes but lost them at the boat. The last was spectacular, I could see it swimming hard toward the surface, then it caught at least three feet of air and spit my hook back at me. Hated to lose it, but it was way cool.

Each Kokanee was caught with a different lure. See photos.

Also, was standing in the boat stretching my legs while trolling the West end of the lake and a rainbow jumped about 10' off my bow. Then it stayed up in the water column and swam right up along side my boat before diving back down. If I had my net in my hand, I could have scooped it right out of the water. That was very cool to see. It also looked to be very big, 16"+. Great day on the lake. This is becoming one of my favorite!

Thank you for the report. What depth were you catching at?

My lead was at about 27 feet and I run my line back about 60 feet. I'm sure it's trailing a little lower than 27' that far back.

Depends on how long your release clips are? Mine are 3-4 feet long
