Caught the sockeye bug after being out opening day & getting 3. Really inspired by stories of boats hooking 25 that day...made the trek up yesterday morning--fishing by 6:30 (yes, I know, supposed to be out at daylight--I'm old & 3am is my earliest rise!). Stacked two downriggers, 4 poles in--40'-65' depths worked--down to 80' later in am. Various forms of bait including prawns brined in Krill powder on all lead hooks (2 1/0 red hooks). Trolled 1mph near Noisy Cr. looking for schools. Marked consistent fish but no big schools. Had 3 on-only one in the net. Had a couple nice fighters--long runs but they came unhooked at the boat. Saw fish here & there but not nearly as rapid as opening day (and there are double the fish!). Got hotter than blazes & we finally called it at 12:30pm. Release 3 bull trout--they liked the prawns. Released 2 kokanee. Socks came at 50-60' depths. Wardens said 1-2 fish per boat was average. Overall slow. I'm heading back to Westport--big King land!
