Stayed out at the family lakehouse over my weekend from work and brought a couple buddies out with me. The night before, just at sunset we threw some lines in the water, around 8 oclock off my dock a bit northeast of Paradise park. My second cast brought in a 7" largemouth, and my friends who didnt think we would catch anything were then casting a little more focused. One buddy hooked a beautiful 13" kokanee on a blue fox spinner off the dock, and it being his first ever catch, declared it a keeper. After about 30 minutes, the sun was behind the trees and the fish were no longer biting and so we called it a night to the house. 3 bass and the 1 kokanee caught that night.
We took the paddle boat out around 1030 and headed to the cove on the Southeast end of the lake, away from the recreational boaters. We started out using various size 2 spinners about 10-15 feet deep and we were catching fish every 3 or 4 casts. A mix of bass and perch were biting at the spinners, and since they kept biting, we tried other lures as well. A spinning wedding ring was getting lots of bites as the clouds gave way to a beautiful sunny day with no wind. My little trout magnet lures were also catching some fish. Around 230, the fish slowed down on their bites and we decided to paddle back to the house. Around 14 bass and maybe 7 perch caught that day, all released safely.
All in all, it was a great relaxing weekend at the lake, can't wait to try the north coves next time, and maybe traverse a bit into Sherwood Creek after switching out some tackle since it's selective gear only.
