Went out to try Meridian for panfish again today. I've been seeing people pulling in some small fish on the docks next to mine so i thought I'd give it a shot. Went out with my buddy at 9:00 AM and cast out with powereggs and marshmallows, whats supposedly working right now. Fished for 4 hours without a distinguished bite. Before we left, my buddy reeled in his pole to find a 8" perch on the hook, but the perch's bite was so light that we didn't see it when it did bite. The downrigger fishermen were out on the lake as always, and catching fish too. Im not sure what the deal is at this lake, ever since June all the fish have been really deep, and the fish aren't even in the shallows at 6:00 in the morning. I haven't seen or caught any bass lately, and the perch and baby bass are way deeper than they usually are at the top of the lake. Maybe the rain coming this weekend will help, but usually this time of year my dock is surrounded by baby bass, perch, bluegill, pumpkinseed, etc. but they just aren't anywhere to be found. Tight Lines!

The water is hot and the lake is fished heavily. I personally like to try to get them huge l.m. bass in the lillies since I can pull cats and trout. I avoid the perch, cheers. 25' is where I'd look for the trout/ kokes at sunset or sunrise.
