Guys I'm tellin' ya the fishing is great right now at Spencer. The fish are rising all over the lake but especially in the shallows near the boat launch. The state just released 2900 cutthroats, that from what I've seen are averaging 11"'s. The holdover rainbows are between 12-14"'s and are tremendous fighters. My buddy Adam and I even saw one come up and out of the water, that had to have been at least 4#'s and bright.
People have been catching limits Fly fishing, Trolling, bottom fishing with power bait, bobber fishing with worms, and even casting spinners. Shore fishing has been slower but with patience and a lot of time has been successful. In fact Saturday I caught 5 from the boat launch three of which were after dark.
It really has been a great time there are even a couple of herons nesting on the lake. If you would like a decent meal make sure to get out there before they put all the little stockers in there. I promise if the weather is nice it will be well worth your time.
See ya on the water!!
