I headed to Banks Lake this morning with my son and 2 grandsons. The boys don't have a lot of fishing experience so I thought the abundant walleye would keep their interest up. I set them up with light weight gear since I found mainly small fish on a scouting trip last Friday. We headed about 2 miles up lake from the Coulee City launch and dropped lines. First fish took all of 30 seconds followed by another 60 fish over the next 3 hours. Lots of dinks but the 15-17 inchers put quite a bend in the Kokanee rods. Bottom bouncers with beaded spinners/small corkies and smile blades in all colors worked with 1/2 nightcrawler. We fished in 16-20 FOW while other boats in the area were in deeper water and catching fish. The boys enjoyed catching fish and had a great time. I am not likely going to be able to provide 20 fish/hour at our next outing but I am already looking forward to that trip.
