Hit the water with a red canoe and my kids. My 5 yo daughter was there for moral support (as she did not want to fish for some reason) and my 3yo twin boys were armed with their new bait casting rods equipped with a drop shot rig and plastic grubs.

Truthfully I was not expecting much as this lake has produced pretty much diddly-squat for me. But I think I solved that issue => get away from he dock!!

Anyway the kids did great listening and reeled in two small rock bass (or warmouth I really don't know or care) and a couple of small yellow perch. They lost some perch and a tiny 2" LMB but they were OK with the other fish.

Had a heck of a time in what was really my first fishing experience with my boys out on a lake. Nothing like fishing on a canoe in a huge lake covered in speed-boats!

I rate this a 4 because of how much fun we had and the memories created.

Nice. The main thing was the kids caught something. They will be hooked on going fishing from now on. Perch, bluegill, rock bass and sunfish will usually provide some action for young anglers. Good luck and keep those kids fishing -- It just may keep them our of trouble in later years.
