Took a break from musky fishing. Intended on fishing largemouth bass but quickly found a variety of panfish species and changed up tactics. A simple Father/Son fishing trip yielded many bluegills, pumpkinseeds, perch and even a few rainbow trout in the mix. Not a single crappie but I know they are there. All fish caught and released on a wide variety of lures ranging from small jigs, spinners, spoons (Kastmaster), Crappie Nibbles and a basic worm/bobber setup. I'm fairly certain that every angler caught fish today. Didn't hear of a single fisherman/fisherwoman leaving skunked. Really impressed by the newer owners of Henley's. I haven't fished here in 20 years and was impressed by the work. I stopped in about 7 years ago under previous ownership and told myself I would never return due to the questionable crowd. Really happy I opted to stop and check it out again because it was such a better experience and we will be back. For our trip and outcome, I could easily give this a 5 but giving it a 4 since we lacked size but I know the big fish are very much there. We just didn't find them this time. Regardless if you're fishing solo or with the kids, I'd certainly give this lake a look. I'm certainly glad I did.
Good luck and happy fishing!
