I decided to head out to Meridian this morning and give it a second shot, since I had dead trolling motor batteries on my first trip to the lake. I arrived at about 7 in the morning. I started trolling at 20 and 25 feet. I wasn't in the water more then 5 minutes and I had my first long distance release. I trolled for another twenty minutes and had my first kokanee of the day which came on a pink bug at 25 feet. I decided to drop my second rod to 30 feet just to see what happens and about a minute later another kokanee on. I had tied a orange and pink tube on this line. I then had two more long distance releases on the thirty foot rod. The action slowed way down after that and, I didn't get my next fish till about 11. This one came at 25 feet on a sockeye slammer hot candy pink color. I picked up my fourth fish about 30 minutes later on the tube. I lost two more trying to get my 5th fish in the boat. I guess that's kokanee fishing for you. I decided to pull out about 1 in the afternoon. I spoke to another boat on the water and they were having good luck fishing shallower 15-20. It was a beautiful day on the water today, and I have a few fish for the smoker.
