I read about these lakes in a recent post here and decided to check them out since I'm live in Yakima. Well, I wish I wouldn't have gone. It was a long, hellacious drive with really crappy dirt roads, then when I finally got to the lakes there were hardly any fish there.

The forest on the hike is very pretty, and the creek is beautiful when you can see it, which is about 1% of the hike. The lakes seem to be on a plateau with limited mountain scenery around it. The first lake is prettier than the second, but quite shallow and only has small fish in it and not very many. The second lake is bigger and deeper, but not as scenic and doesn't have many fish. I did manage to catch one brook trout about 8-9 inches, but I really had to work to find him. I had one other bite there which was very hard, but it didn't get hooked.

The water was around 55 degrees on the thermometer and the bugs are starting to multiply including mosquitoes. There are isolated snow patches at the lakes.

Thanks for the report. I went up to Dewey lake Saturday. The fish were very active, and I caught plenty. It is surprising how early we can get into these lakes this time of year.

Don't give up on the Twin Sisters. There are Golden Trout in there: http://wdfw.wa.gov/fishing/washington/highlakes/stocking.php

I was up there the other day, and haven't posted yet, but all I could manage to get was a small brook as well.
