I got to the lake about 6am and had 2 boats cut in front of me at the ramp. Then one almost runs into me at as they pushed off getting his oars out.
Then I couldn’t start my kicker. I got a new used gas tank. The vent was open. I took the cap off but it still wouldn’t start. The glass fuel filter was full of gas, pump ball was hard. I was tired of pulling on it so it took me another 10 minutes to start the big motor in order to get over to the south side where I fish.
It was hard to maneuver into the exact spot I wanted because the big motor doesn’t like to idle therefore I overshot and was in 40 feet of water. Oh well, I had bites once I got my line down.
I, again, had a hard time hooking them. But I finally did having my limit about 8am. I must have started between 6:30am and 7 using Wannafish A Lure’s Still-fishing spinner with real live maggots and red eggs.
As I was getting ready to go I tried starting my kicker again. It started second pull. I used my big motor which smoked so much I thought something was wrong with it. It’s been probably 2 months since it ran. But it quit smoking and I ran it down the lake and back to the launch.
Water temperature was 67.7 degrees. When I got to the lake at 6 it was sunny out but clouds came in and kept the air temp cool! My sun screen was 50 but I didn’t need it, I had to put my coat on.
