After barely scraping out 4 fish last Wednesday near the state park, i got up early this morning for a shot at down-lake, where the fish are usually a little smaller, but more plentiful. I started fishing around 6 in 150' fow, 30 and 70 on the wire. First fish came minutes after starting, a chubby little fish just under 12" came on the top rod. Just as i got that rod reset i look over and watch the other rod go, reach over, see the line come out of the clip, grab the rod, reel in and never felt the fish. Reset, then nothing for about 30 minutes, then the top rod goes off again, this time a a 12" again, reset, look over, the other rod is going off again, this fish put up a nice fight and was a chunky 15". another 30 minutes top rod goes again, again i see the line release from the clip, and again never reel into the fish, gone. trolled around for a while when the bottom rod goes off, see the line release, but this time the fish is still there, and is putting up a good fight, i slowly work a scrappy 16"er into the net. 4 for 6 at this point, i troll around for another hour, nothing, the fish are gone and i can't get back on them. I motor down lake a little more into 100-70 fow, working my gear 30 and 40-50' down, meanwhile i get my fish filleted up, bagged, then ended up with 2 more Kok's a 13" and a 14"er to round out my morning with 6 fish in the bag. the jet skis and parasailers and motor boaters were getting started and were buzzing nearby when i caught the last 2 fish, good time to get off the lake.
