Was on the lake by 6:45 with my 3 year old son and headed to my usual trolling spots, about 30' off the bank near the road side of the lake. Started fishing with 3/4 oz lead to a macks hot wings flasher and a pink smile blade wedding ring, and a #20 jet diver to a red and gold wedding ring both with crawlers to finish them off. Trolled around for about an hour with nothing and decided to switch to a shasta tackle sling blade and same pink wedding ring, and keep the diver fishing deep. Fished for another hour with still nothing and decided to switch to an F5 flatfish in the sunflower pattern behind my diver, and change the pink wedding ring with my favorite color and pattern of wedding rings. It's an orange tiger stripe smile blade with glow and red beads that always seems to work for me, added some mikes UV anise scent in a hail marry attempt to hook up. Put the gear About 60' behind the boat and 2 minutes later the rod bends. Small rainbow but nice to get in the boat, sure enough my orange wedding ring produced. Decided to troll my way back to the launch and hooked and lost another small rainbow at the boat on the same rod. All in all it was a pretty slow day but not totally dead. I asked around and other boats were seeming to have similar results, small fish with hear and there hits. I think the weather this week has been a major factor since its been changing, we need a week or so of consistent weather. Planning on hitting American Lake next Sunday. Tight Lines!!
