Fish ranging 8-10in long on top 15ft of water. Best trolling in front of the dam buoys center and west side. Also many fish in front of the resort. Using no weight, dick nyte watermelon dodger with squid 16-20in behind. Tipped with shoepeg in anise oil and worm tail. They are everywhere so if your not hooking up change gear ASAP. Had two other people that tried wedding ring and small dick nyte spoons in different setups with corn and no luck. Switched to my setup and did just fine.
It's still early in the season so far smaller kokes you won't need a DR. I will be hooking up my HDS-5 onto my 13ft valco this week and will get more detailed information on spots, structures, temps etc. I generally fish only the north side of the lake and will be specifically targeting the bigger kokanee.
The lower lake Kokanee water level is VERY low and will be filled back up on May 23rd. They are rebuilding the launch and possibly a small dock at the launch as well. The hatchery progress is moving along pretty well and I'm in hopes someday a sockeye fishery in Cushman will come.
Tight Lines.
