Well I talk my son in to getting up early and trying a new lake. Headed to Summit in hopes of some nice kokes. This lake is a very nice clean lake and launch. We headed out at 4 am found the place no problem.

Got launched and putted over to the other side and started trolling on the wire at 15 and 30 ft. We were marking a ton of trout but no kokanee. My top pole goes off and small trout that came off at the boat. Reset the gear and trolled all over the lake. My son gets a few takers all RB and small. We only have till 11 am he works today. We hooked a ok size RB so in the box it went trying to change my luck.

Wind started blowing like crazy no fun. Hooked into one at 27 ft as I started marking a few kokes and the pole starts the dance. Take my time feels small and sure enough its a koke but only 10 inches bonk in the box he goes. Turn the boat around and head back passing the same spot and pick up another cookie cutter koke. These are very small, not sure what this lake has but I was super happy to catch on does wonders for your mind. American is a bust for me right now.

We stopped marking kokes and time was not on my side so we started putting fish in the box all RB. Took one last lap around the lake and changed my son's set up to a purple hoochie and tell him have you gave the fish gods some coffee he says no....I said well you can't catch a nice fish till you do. I pour some in over his line and two minutes later the pole bends like its snags something and then pops the clip, he grabs the rod and says its taking line I told him keep pressure on it and reel slow. A few minutes goes by and a fumble at with the net and a few oh shi*'s and got him in the boat and the smile on his face was priceless. See told you the like coffee. We got our limits and headed home. Fish for dinner and he is ready for another adventure tomorrow now to figure where to go.

Tight lines,
Eric

Nice trout. Biggest trout I have caught came from Summit. How big was it?
