Went to K-pow for the first time, looking for crappie. We have never targeted them before, but thought it would be a fun close fishery for us. The stumps in the water are quite ominous. Always just out of sight until right underneath you. Lots of good structure though! We took it slow. We did see a boat get high centered and need help from fellow boaters. The best thing about the stumps is, youll never see skiers or wake boarders on this large lake. We fished the edges of weeds and structure around the island and into the flats in the north. We were using shy bite slip bobbers with trout magnets, most of the time about 3 feet down. We lost count of the trout we hooked. Also caught two holdovers or jumbos, along with 2 cutthroat. Hooked numerous rock bass. And found yellow perch in the weeds on the flats. This fishery would be great for kids, as we were hooking fish on just about every cast. Technique is we were slightly twitching the bobber and then letting it sit. Never did hook a crappie. No fish kept. Talked to some other crappie fishermen that had no luck as well. Low rating since we didnt catch our target, but give it a 5+++ for consistent action with other species!
