Last year I caught several fish in early May here, so I wanted to try it again. I got there about 7 and the sun was already bright so I was concerned the fish would be in hiding, but they were active until about 9:30. At first there were a few fish eating bugs here and there, so I targeted them and caught a nice cutthroat in about 5 feet of water. Then I moved to my secret spot and started catching bull trout including one about 5 pounds! I think he could be the one I caught in the same spot last year.

Overall, I caught 3 cutthroat and 4 bulls (released). I was kind of hoping to catch a Kokanee so I could taste one, but no luck with them today. It was a very beautiful day and very enjoyable.

One of those fish looked like a Dolly Varden. Beautiful fish and on spinners even better. So did the hit the spoons and spinners like a freight train?

Nice job! I frequent Rimrock often, but don't have a boat, and have always had terrible luck off the bank. I don't suppose you would want to reveal your secret spot would you? ;-)

Yes they hit hard, definitely harder than the cutthroats. I've only had good fishing there twice, both in early May and the rest of the year I never catch anything there. I think the bulls are feeding hard now because soon the water will be to warm for them near the surface and they will go deep, or upriver to spawn.

No I won't reveal my secret spot, or it won't have any fish left.
