Well made it over with my son for the get together. We arrived on Friday around 8:40 pm took us 3 hrs 40 min but we did stop for dinner at BK along the way. We got tent set up just before the sun went down and manage to sneak the truck and boat in the space with no room to spare.

Got up Sat morning a bit late but had some breakfast and launched at the park next to the campground. We headed up the lake a bit and saw some boats on the left side of the lake so we pulled over and got the DR's set and started trolling up lake. We started marking fish right away now keep in mind this is our first trip to Chelan so it was all new to us just had prior reports to go from and hot spots on where to fish. Took us till 9 am to finally get a bite, my son had the first one and he lost it right at the boat oh he was upset.... Keep in mind we have switched dodgers and lures up many times to find the right color. We ended up using a color that I normally don't have any luck with and a gold and orange mack's with a smile blade to trigger the bite on my lower rod and almost the same set up different dodger for my son but very close in color. My top rod had a green splatter dodger with a green mack's squid with smile blade on it. Now we had the dipping sauce in kokanee but it was not working for us at all. The special sauce that working as soon as I put it on was bloody tuna and anise krill mixed together worked like a charm.

We reset the gear and with the new flavor started to get more bite's the son's rod went off and he got it half way to the boat only to manage to lose another fish. Took a few more turns and we moved up the lake a bit and started marking them again seems like the were moving up the lake as the morning went on. My pole goes off and I land my first koke of 2015 and I am one happy camper!!! All smiles I reset the gear not to forget the sauce that seem to be working and the rod goes off and I hand it off to my boy who manages to bring in a nice 14 inch koke first on of the year for him and smiles all around.

We were marking fish at the 110 ft range in a 125 ft of water so down we went and I was below them just a tad so up I brought the DR five feet and tighten the lines and my bottom pole goes off I grab the rod and its a nice one lots of weight. I took my time as this was feeling great, it starting running and peeling line in my mind I am thinking maybe I got a king? After a good long fight we started gaining line and I had my son pull in my second pole and get the dr line out of the water. My boy sees it and gets super excited he's huge I told him calm down and grab the bigger net then I see it and the blood is going I think king its huge after a few moments in the net it goes and a Laker is in the net my first ever and boy we were excited. That was sweet. that would be our last fish for Saturday we went 5 kokes and one laker we were all smiles.

We headed up the lake a few miles for a nice drive in the boat to see the lake and all it had to offer, very nice. We headed back in and got ready for the pot luck. That was one great big feast lots of food and great people it was nice to the few that I did and talk kokanee fishing. Thanks to everyone who made it happen and all the sponsors as the free bees were great I got myself a nice filet knife that I need for the boat!! Some nice lures from Wana fish a lure thanks Toni, and some gear from Mack's lures that we can't wait to give a try.

We had to be back in Puyallup on Sunday by noon so it was off to bed and a early rise the next day. We left the boat in the marina over night so no fuss there. Woke up at 3 am and hit the showers and packed up camp all but the tent, ate breakfast and headed to the boat at 4 am. What a sweet ride that was moon was shining bright lake was mostly calm and we were cruising heading back to our spot we had luck with the day before.

We set our lines out and went back to my 45 and 60 ft depth again using the bloody tuna and anise and krill. Same color as the day before and within 4 min of being down my rod goes off and my son says no way.....I am like yup we have our first koke of the day grab the net. A nice 15" koke in the box. reset the gear and my son's pole goes off and he's got one and he feeling great. We managed to get 4 kokes by 7 am and it was time to head home. We headed back to camp broke down the tent and hooked up the boat trailer to the truck and loaded our boat and got it ready for the long ride home. What a great time we had and I will be coming back with the family for another trip very soon. It took us 3 hrs 10 min to get home not to bad.

We did cook up the laker last night and I baked it at 375 for 25 min with lemon and salt and pepper. It was smelling very very fishy...so I grab the brown sugar and covered the top of each filet and let it go another 10 min. Had a pot of rice, salad and nice looking Laker filets. Now I have never had one so from what I heard from some guys is its fatty. Well I will say that fish was top notch and I loved it. Super moist and the taste was perfect with the lemon and salt and sugar. I can't wait to get more!

Looking forward to another trip next year and hope to meeting a few more members.

Thanks for a wonderful weekend,

Eric and Adam
