WOW!!!! Great fishing at Blue Lake again. This lake never disappoints me. After watching some guys cleaning their fish, we found out the trout are eating small minnows, so we used small Rapalas in shallow areas of the lake. Both of us limited in less than 2 hours. These trout and some steelhead averaged 14-15 inches and were they ever strong. Multiple jumps and dives made for exciting fights. Susan at the resort told us the state put in steelhead recently and we caught about 5 of them.

We stayed at Blue Lake Resort, this is our 30th year staying there. We did see smallies in the large cove near the end of the cove in the shallows, but they would not bite on anything we presented to them.

Jeff at Blue Lake Resort is really a neat guy to deal with. Been going there since the late 70's Fishing is always pretty good even in the fall. we troll flies and they do really well. In the fall you need to use leaded line to get down a little deeper. Glad to hear you guys did well and enjoyed your stay.

I'm pretty sure he means rainbow trout, even though rainbow trout are land locked steelhead.

The owners of Blue Lake resort told me the state had an abundance of steelhead that they could not put into rivers and decided to put them in Blue Lake. I did catch rainbows and also steelhead.
