Had a great weekend fishing Banks. Caught a few but had to work pretty hard to find them, I think the cold front that rolled through over the weekend slowed the bite down a little bit. I was able to catch a very nice Smallmouth and a VERY healthy Walleye. We targeted the smallmouth on the old road beds and flats, surprisingly it was a slow at these locations as I thought the pre-spawn was going to be hot, I think the fish wen t back to deeper water because of the cold front. The few that we caught were in 10-20ft of water, water temp varied from 50-53, most were found just of rock faces. They were hitting on bright green, crawdad pattern crankbaits, and a few hits on some smoke colored grubs. The walleye hit in 15ft of water on a brown/cinnamon grub, thought it was a monster smallmouth because I got him on the old road beds. Definitely surprised but not disappointed :). All in all it was a great weekend on the water! The bite should be on and fishing should be hot this week and next with the warmer weather coming in!
