Thought we'd give it a go the day after opening day and try to put some trout in the freezer before the weather starts to heat up so up to Loon we went. Talked to some folks at the launch and said they got hammered by a splash and dash storm with high winds and said they caught no Kokanee, but it was nice and sunny when we pulled up! Headed out to our favorite trout spot in the northeast part of the lake, there's a nice ridge along the edge of the reeds in the flats out there. Tried a couple of new things I picked up this past winter but ended up using my old faithful Rapala baby trout crankbait. Started nailing trout on almost every cast, even caught a couple of small largies and a couple of Kokanee. All trout were between 14-20", had a couple larger ones on but they broke off next to the boat. A Great outing for me but the Mrs got the goose egg.

Hey Jim how ya been? That's a nice batch of trout. I actually started night fishing kokanee just off that ridge in the last couple years. Catch some nice Crappie there too (at night). Maybe we can get together sometime this year & go catch some Bass.

Been doing great Bill, great to hear from you too! Other than being busy with the grandsons, the aches and pains of gettin old, coming back from spending a week in Vegas and being sick of working I'm doing awesome! It may be a couple months before we can get together for a bass outing, my older son is moving over to Seattle mid June so my grandson's are bugging grandpa to go fishing before they leave.
My boat and trailer is showing it's wear so I've spent this spring changing out my trailer bunk rails among other things. So this is only our 4th outing this spring, the other 3 were at Eloika which is starting to heat up, but so far nothing over 4lbs. The top water action in the lillies during dusk is awesome, there are only a couple of areas with pads that are producing due to how shallow the lake is. Tight lines...
