On the way home from Grandy I swung by Big Lake to check the wind conditions and found it to be very manageable so I stopped to fish for a bit. I worked several docks with jigs, worms and Senkos without a bite. I fished the cove right by the launch and got bit on a jig but missed him. I ran down to the south end of the lake and immediately spooked a nice one under a dock in 2' of water! I continued through the pads and caught one 3lber on a frog.....unfortunately I missed 7 more blowups! Even tried following up the misses with a Senko but they wouldn't come back. I made two passes through the area and had blowups on the frog both trips. I tried dragging a Senko and a Jika rig through the pads hoping to get a response on a more subtle presentation but they didn't get a single bite. I even tried a slower frog and it didn't work either. Oh well, it's still exciting to see the water erupt, even when they forget to open their mouths!

Nice fish! Haven't fished that lake since October of 1994. Are you keeping a fishing log?

I keep a log when necessary but not for every trip. Usually I just add to my library of lake info when I discover something new or am working on a new bait or technique.
