I went out with Glen and Cami from F24 Xperience. We met just before 6am at the launch. I don’t know how long before we had fish on but it wasn't a fast as yesterday, I was told. Glen got most of the first trout early. Some fish we lost we figured might be kokanee but we don’t know. Then we heard someone caught a kokanee on a Bloody Mary. So I changed one of my lures to it. I kept a Pink Ice on the lower line. I had them stacked about 10 feet apart. My Bloody Mary with a brass blade was on top. Most of the time when I was catching I kept them at 29 and 19 on the wire.
I can’t remember when it was but I got a hit on the bottom lure (Pink Ice)and about the time I thought it was a kokanee and so did Glen, it jumped, we saw it and it was gone…that was as close to a koke as I got.
I only got 2 fish on the bottom line one was the 15 inch trout which was a great fighter. I got other hits on a Bloody Mary with a nickel blade. Dodgers were Rocky Mountain Bahama Mama and Dick Nite’s new UV Hypnosis, and the 50/50. Green gulp maggots and Shoe Peg corn with Pro-Cure kokanee special and Bloody Tuna for bait.
It was sunny and about 40 degrees when we got there but warmed up. The air was calm with the wind not starting until about 10am. Water temp was almost 56.
I intended to keep 2 trout for my neighbors’ dinner but one trout was too messed up to release and the big one I kept because it was big! Trout 15 inch, 2 at 13 and a 12 incher.
One I am sure came from Bill’s Boat House release on April 11.
It was a great day of catching even if it wasn't my target fish!
