I am so surprised that the Smallmouth was the big fish! They pull so much harder, right to the end. When the largy kinda gives up around mid fight?

Not always. LOTS of Largies fight for as long and as tough as any Smallie. Just a different kind of fight most of the time. Generaly speaking I'd say a Smallie is a 'run around fighter', and a Largie is a 'stand their ground and slug it out' type of fighter. And that is very general as both can do both types of fighting. And sometimes in the very same battle.

May is usually the start of serious Bass fishing, the spawn starting, and such. April can be good depending on the lake, the weather, and how a person wants to fish. March can also be good, once again depending on the lake. And yes lakes change over the years, my home lake sure has the past 20 years.
