After an excellent day of fishing Omak lake, my wife was kind enough to let me go back to Antilon for one last trip and one last good chance to catch a Brown Trout before we head back over to the west side of the state. We got to the lake and were fishing by about four. Not wanting to bother with the raft, we instead just fished from the rocks along the east shore of the lake.

I started with one of my favorite lures, a 1/4oz gold and crimson Kastmaster, while my wife soaked worms down on the bottom. I figured the metallic Kastmaster would work while the sun was still on the water, and it turns out that I was right. I had one good strike out deep that didn't stick, and then had another strike also out in the middle of the lake but fairly close to the surface. I got the fish to shore and netted my first brown (around 9"). I then switched to the size 2 pink and silver Vibrax that had worked the day before and was able to get another solid brown (probably around 13") while retrieving it relatively parallel to shore. Before my first fish, my wife got a hit on her worm but it didn't stick. Eventually she switched to pink power eggs, but didn't have luck with them either.

After getting the second fish on the Vibrax I decided to try casting a green wedding ring with a silver blade using a lead egg sinker. The setup actually worked quite well and produced a momentary hookup that got off after a few seconds. Eventually I changed to a pink wedding ring and got another good strike that didn't stick. Near to the end of the trip, I decided to give the fly rod a try with a brown size 10 Woolly Bugger, and I rigged my wife up with a size 10 (I think) olive Damsel Nymph under a bobber. I didn't have any luck with my bugger, but she did get a momentary bobber wiggle with the nymph. Unfortunately, the fish didn't really seem to commit to it.

Not a bad few hours at the lake, especially considering I got my first brown. Yet another fishing goal accomplished.
