The fishing on Lake Chelan has been down a bit from the previous weeks. We have been averaging around 1 fish per hour in the boat over the past week. These fish have been caught mostly in the lower basin with a few coming from the Yacht Club area. Depths have varied considerably with fish coming from 125' to 250' deep. U-20 flatfish and K-lures trolled at 1.2 knots within 10' of the bottom continue to be the main presentation. Rufus Woods reservoir continues to be slow with 1 nice 18 pound triploid caught about 4 miles up from Chief Joseph Dam by a shore angler. With surface temperature inching over 40 degrees Fahrenheit, we expect the bite to improve daily. The ice is off Roses Lake. I did a quick survey of the 2 bank anglers there. Neither had caught any fish. I expect this to be a very nice fishery for put and take sized trout with a nice sprinkling of carryovers.
