Headed out in the rain to fish Rattlesnake Lake for the first time today. I was going to hike the shoreline, expecting the wind to keep me off the water, but when I got there the wind was minimal so I assembled the pontoon. The lake was really active with jumping trout and I caught two on a tiny, barbless red Mepps spinner right away. I brought my fly rod to practice casting and ended up with my first trout on a fly. A red bead head grizzly wooly bugger with a brown tail that I had tied. It was a great day, despite the downpour, and I never really floated more than a couple hundred yards from the boat launch. I only saw one other angler out there and he was catching his share as well.
