Got off of work early today, looked outside, sunny, crisp air, what a great day for fishing!
Decided to go to silver lake since it's not to far from where I live and read reports that the lake was just stocked on the 10th of March, got to the parking lot,to my surprise saw that no one was there,as I got down to the lake the wind picked up and was pretty much blowing the whole time(approx 12mph),it was sunny and beautiful, the down side was that I only brought my fly pole...well gotta make the best of it. So I tried all different techniques of getting my floating line to cut through the wind, gotta admit I got it down pretty well except for all the failed casts, haha
So shortly after I arrived, two more guys came, one fishing off the bottom, and the other with lures.for the first 1/2 hour or so not one bite for anybody, shortly after the guy fishing lures gets one,I get right after, and from there on it was just basically catch and release as many fish as you can until you get tired. Had an awsome time using a 4lb line with a olive/black wooly bugger, fished the third dock by the houses casting toward the shore and most hits were about 5-10 ft from shore, lake was stalked with about 8,400 fish, not much size to them but with light gear you'll have a lot of fun!
