First report with you guys! Hit Green Lake today from about 2pm-5pm. Went to the pier near the Arts center (right next to the island). No fish for the first hour or so, then caught a nice little Steelie. Immediately after I got a nice rainbow that was BEAUTIFUL. Very dark, almost entirely red and black, with huge spots covering it's whole body and a jaw shaped exactly like a wild male Brown. I never would have thought I would catch a fish like that out of a lake in the middle of a city! As I was reeling it in, a huge Bald Eagle came wheeling out of the trees and made a dive for my fish, but I had my tip down and the fish took a lucky dive as I shouted at him, and the eagle peeled off right above the water, not thirty feet in front of me, and landed above me in a tree. An hour later got a really nice steelie, maybe 16". I left the rod on the railing with the drag on low and it SCREAMED my reel out on the take. He was hungry. I thought people were confused when they mentioned Steelhead but the meat is very dark pink and they fought much harder than the rainbow. Got six good thick filets for the smoker. Crew teams pass you constantly riding the buoy line, but I think they were actually scaring the fish in closer and within casting range, so thanks! The cormorants stayed in deep water well out of range as well, so no issues there. Great afternoon for my first time on a new lake!
