Cutthroat Trout

Only had about an hour to pop out on my kayak on the south end of Mercer Island. There were big balls of bait lighting up at around 30-60'. I caught this fat cutty at 60' on my rigger, running a sling blade behind a UV mini-hoochie with a piece of worm. It gave a great fight and ran under my kayak several times. Good eating last night on the bbq! Say hi if you see me in the red kayak, I am out on the south most weekends. Tight lines.

Nice fish Akiviat. The downrigger sure does help getting down. Many fish running deep this year. Got down to Renton yesterday and landed only one fish. Pretty slow and choppy.

Nice pig you landed! I think we passed you while heading to the North side of Mercer Island. We fished to South end for a few hours with just a small fish for our troubles. I'm not sure if it was the weather or the large amount of bait in the area and the fish were just stuffed. We did do better up North and there was less boat traffic.

Very nice fish indeed! If I am seeing the flasher correctly, it is reversed, with the mini squid attached to what is the front of the dodger. Normally the main line from your reel is attached to the smaller end of the dodger. But, good to know fished backward catches big fish~!
