Well went out today to Srping. Ended up not catching a thing but watched my graph carefully and found about a 10 foot drop off that puts you in about 18 feet of water and slightly up from the drop off there is a 3-5 foot flat. i'd put money that the Largies are sitting right below that flat feeding on the perch and pumpkinseed that are abundant in the area. if they aren't now, i know they will be when the water warms up another 10 degrees and the lillies come out.
Next time I'll be throwin' a dropshot right at that transition to deep water. Should produce a fish or two!
Anyways here's the crazy story. My dad hooked up on a PIG in 3 feet of water with the water temp at 46 degrees. Not only that, he caught it on an ultralight rod, #6 eagle claw trout hook and orange powerbait. Basically a bottom rig for trout! He thought he had hooked the bottem and then noticed his line was coming towards him. I couldn't belive my eyes, good times all around.
This is without a doubt one of my 3 favorite lakes in my area. Its has some giants in it, hooked into two of them last year. Can't wait for spring!!!
