Showed up and got on the water at about noon. First headed over to the lily pads along the southern edge of the lake. For anyone who has not been to this lake - it has extensive lily beds around most of the lake.

Spent about a hour in that area. Got a couple of bites on tube bait and saw evidence of a couple fo fair sized fish ( surface boils ).

We then headed down to the east end of the lake and trolled back up to the dock where we rented the boat. During the troll my wife caught about a 6 inch rainbow on a Luhr trout kit spinner. After the required photo he was released with orders to go out and get bigger. No hits on the wedding ring rig her friend was using.

After that we headed to the west end of the lake. This area has VERY extensive lily beds and a number of groups of pilings. It also has some unmarked snags. Nothing like hearing a snag scrape the bottom of your boat the get the blood moving! Spent some time working the egde of the lily beds with no luck.

Then took the girls back to the dock and dropped then off to head back to camp while I went back to the west end of the lake.

I worked my way down a channel to a small open area in one of the beds and started working a 3" tube bait without any luck. I then decided to use the rest of the worms my wife had got. ended up "catching" what looked to be a 4 inch bass and a 7 inch bass - both decided the release the worm when they got at the boat.
The fish activity was picking up around me as dusk got close but I guess I just was not throwing what they wanted at them. But it was a fun time.

Lost two lures to the weeds so I recommend weed-less rigs if you have then.

A note fore anyone heading to this lake. It is shallow with the deepest recorded spot being only 12 feet. Also both the east and west ends of the lake are buoyed No Wake zones that the county enforces. I saw one jet skier chased down and towed off so they are out there.

From talking to the locals this has been a better then average year for trout while the bass look to be in a lull. The crappie have been very low this year but the bluegill are plentiful. I did not get a chance to talk to many other anglers - they might have been catching things but I need more practice.

Overall a fun day other then the sunburn.
