Decided I needed to get a fishing trip in. A friend helped me out so I could go. It was very cold and pretty windy. I decided to hit my normal spot since it gave me some distance between me and other fishermen. There were not many people fishing and no boats. It looked pretty slow and I only had a couple of hours to kill. I got there about 1230 and left before 240. I put out a poll with bobber and worms and one floated from the bottom with Yellow PE and Orange PE. It was so windy and such that it was hard to tell if there was a bite. No luck on the worm. I went to bring in the the other poll and fish on. Little guy but not bad. I put both polls back out and talked to to some fishermen nearby. They had not had a bit on the bobber and worms nor much luck on the river. I went back to my polls and one of them came over to talk to me. After he left I noticed my poll had moved picked it up fish on. I pulled in a very fat fish. It popped off the hook but did not swim away but floundered in the weeds. I managed to grab it with my hands. it was a a fat trout not recently planted but maybe from the spring. fin was not clipped. I did not turn it loose because my hubby loves to eat fish. I cast out again and a little bite and lost the bait. I continued to used Orange PE. That seemed to be the ticket and about 1 to 2 feet leader. I caught two more that way and only left because I had run out of time. I saw another fellow leaving about the same time as I did and it looked like he had limited. It was fun but cold. Out of the fish the smaller ones with pink flesh tasted the best. The larger one actually tasted pretty gross. I guess it spent too long in the lake.
