Headed to Beaver this Veterans Day to fish the brood stock rainbows that had been planted this past week. After trolling the shore for a bit I headed to the sunny side of the lake, dropped anchor, and started catching big trout, 3-5 lb range. Momentarily considered leaving the spot after I had a couple casts without a fish and right when I was getting ready to pull up shop I had another one in the net. They fought incredibly well for the most part and I can't say I've ever played trout as long as I was required to play these with ultralight rod, line, and tackle. The wind was blowing icy and steady all morning but that seemed to keep the crowds down at the launch, far from where I was fishing. The picture are the bait caught ones that put up the best fight and went home with me. Action was steady and constant until I left around 1pm. The boat launch was crowded and busy with fellas sharing stories and talking gear.

Sounds like a great time despite the cold! Nice work.

I have found the park is only producing fisherman who don't know how to share a beach! I find this funny because even when you are shoulder to shoulder at a river or pier other fisherman usually work together to allow access and reel in when a fish is on.

I can't say I've fished from the park at Beaver Lake but I can see how that would be frustrating Lumpdog. I'm not stoked on those that fish on the boat launch at Beaver though. They seem to always be in the way and the one whom I asked to move his line yesterday ignored me. So I rowed over it.

Possibly the WDFW should post a sign stating that the Beaver Lake WDFW boat launch site is primarily for boat launching, not bank fishing. In other words, the Beaver Lake boat launch site is not a fishing pier. I have observed similar problems with bank fishers blocking the launch area at other WDFW boat launch sites. There are some "regular" bank fishers at the Beaver lake WDFW boat launch who are polite and helpful but recently there seem to be "newcomers" who block the launch. So I just paddle my canoe over their fishing lines when I come into the launch.

I personally see it as a boat launch. I've fished it from shore in the past and you have to be respectful of the boaters as it is a "boat launch". However I've been there recently and saw guys hogging it up with lines. if you just make your way through they'll move, and if they don't, well.. they can re-tie if they get hung up on you..

Is it even worth it to try during the week if I do not have a boat? I would like to try but fishing from the designated shore area. I fear I would only be disappointed and annoyed. I enjoy fishing but fishing along with people who understand respect and good fishing manners.

If you're fishing from shore just go to the park and fish from that side of the lake Heatherflyfish. I'm sure there would be less people and more spots to choose from during the weekdays...and less likelihood of having to share space with the impolite folks like you seem to be worried about. Fish from the boat launch and you're likely going to have to reset and cast your gear as boaters come in to launch, making it more likely to have your fishing time and space interrupted. You're also going to upset boaters who see the space as a launch, not a fishing pier as mikep was correctly comparing it too (with bank fishermen blocking the launch).
